Blackwater NWR Visitor Center Renovation

If you visit Blackwater NWR after November 19, 2010, you'll notice that our Visitor Center is temporarily closed due to a construction project that will give us a new "west wing" and a new glass entryway. If you plan on visiting the Refuge in the coming months, please read this announcement (PDF file - 329KB) for details about the Visitor Center closing for construction.

With the Visitor Center closed, our gift store and visitor information desk will remain open but will be relocated to the Environmental Education building, which is located to the right of the pay station at the start of the Wildlife Drive. Hours of operation will be the same as the Visitor Center: Open 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday through Friday and 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM on the weekend (closed Thanksgiving and Christmas). Construction will not affect access to the Wildlife Drive or the trails.

We thank you for your patience as we finish this renovation of the Visitor Center, which will give us new facilities to better accommodate public meetings and student groups.
