2009 Mid-Winter Eagle Survey Results
In Maryland, the Mid-Winter Eagle Survey is a cooperative effort between the MD Department
of Natural Resources, the U.S. Fish and Wildlife
Service, and the U.S. Army. The survey is part of a national effort to document trends in the wintering
populations of eagles in the lower 48 states, coordinated at the national level by the U.S. Geological
Survey's Biological Resources Division.
Blackwater National Wildlife Refuge is one of Maryland's main winter concentration areas
where eagles are
counted. Both USFWS employees and volunteers conduct the survey.
Here are the final results from the Blackwater segment of the 2009 Mid-Winter Eagle Survey.
